Easter

1 Corinthians 15:3-8

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also

Introduction

We are living in a world that is looking for hope, longing for love, and desperate for faith.

But where do we find faith, hope, love?

Three Witness's that can change humanity.

1.  A Historical Witness

1 Corinthians 15: 3-8

"3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born."

Our weakness is not a witness of our failure or hypocrisy, but the power of God to use even the most broken.

The resurrection wasn’t just about a man it was about the power of God to:

  • bring darkness into light

  • to take away guilt and shame once

  • to make all things new

When you put your faith in Jesus, the resurrection becomes more than just a moment in history, it became a moment of transformation.

2.  A Personal Witness

Ephesians 2:8-9

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast."

Saved: Perfect tense verb it mean it happened in the past, in the present, and in the future.

Resurrection is the power of God to bring new life yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

We can all thank God for shining his light in a very dark tunnel.

The promise of God is an invitation to bring your soul to life!

3.  A Community Witness

John 13:35-36

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples ,if you love one another.”

Some of us are living in the power of the resurrection and we don’t even realize it.

The resurrection was a moment in history, that changed our personal lives, and is transforming our collective world.
